Balancing sharp humor with emotional volatility, The Variants captures the chaos of how even the closest relationships can fracture when beliefs collide.

During weekly video chats, a mother and her three adult children hold themselves together the only way they know how: routine, humor, and just enough denial to keep things moving.

But when their long-delayed reunion is finally within reach, one son refuses to play by the rules, setting off a chain reaction that pulls every fault line to the surface.

What begins as a single act of defiance quickly escalates—exposing secrets, shifting alliances, and forcing each member of the family to confront what they believe, and what those beliefs cost.

As the distance between them finally closes, the question isn’t just if they can come together, but what it will take.
